jReSpot

Servify is needed in order to use jReSpot.
jReSpot is the desktop client. Remote control Spotify from your computer. This could be nice in tandem with (a)ReSpot, and perhaps best if you have a headless computer running servify...

Servify/C# *ALPHA*

Please note that Servify requires a Premium Spotify account!

1) Download and unzip Servify/C#
2) Servify can be started in two ways:
    a) double click the Servify.exe file in your file explorer of choice

    b) by commandline with: "Servify.exe username password local_port bitrate"
for mac it is: "mono Servify.exe username password local_port bitrate"

Servify now displays the IP adresses which are possible candidates for ReSpot to connect to (typically only one IP address is shown, but your mileage may vary).

Please ensure that the latest version of Servify/C# is running by looking at the startup text.
Running this on Windows requires the .NET framework
Running on Linux / Mac OS X requires the MONO framework (included by default in Ubuntu - no action needed).

  1. How do I find out what my localport number is? Sorry for such a basic question.

  2. No question is too basic!
The local port is free for you to decide, but it usually has to be a value between 1100 to 65000.
ie: if you start with: ./Servify username password 1111
Then in ReSpot you’d connect to the IP of your computer running servify and port 1111
